So here I am trying to decide which way to go. GUI scripting or this canvas system. Maybe you can help me break the tie.
What inclines me towards the scriptable gui is the fact I'm making a non-game application and guilayout makes it very easy to build a unified interface with a custom guiskin. While the new UI system seems it's made for localized scenarios, where I can design specific buttons for an intro screen, for example, and position them easily on the screen.
