Character selection screen cursor trouble

Hello.

I am working on making a character select screen, for a 2d fighting game. And for the most part it is doing what I would like. The one part that is not working so well for me, is the horizontal movement of the cursor. When I press left it goes to the right, and when I press right it goes to the left.

My menu is 3 by 3.
